This series will challenge assumptions and set out pathways for cities that are fairer, happier, greener and more prosperous.
Cars promise independence, but cities that depend on cars show fragmented communities, inequality and lack of choice. Around the world, cities are rethinking the streets: from London’s low-traffic neighbourhoods to Paris’s 15-minute city and Bogotá’s cycleways. Explore how car-less design can inspire a new vision of urban life built around people, not traffic.

SCI Annual Lecture with Prof. Henrietta L. Moore
Join the Sustainable Consumption Institute's Annual Lecture featuring the esteemed Professor Dame Henrietta L. Moore, Founder and Director of the Institute for Global Prosperity and the Chair in Culture Philosophy and Design at University College London. Prof. Henrietta will discuss her new book, Roadkill: Unveiling the True Cost of Our Toxic Relationship with Cars.

The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. Panellists: Prof. Hannah Knox (Max Gluckman Professor of Social Anthropology), Dr. Ransford A. Acheampong (Senior Lecturer in Transport and Urban Futures) and Prof.Karen Lucas (Professor of Human Geography and Director of Manchester Urban Institute), chaired by Prof. Mike Hodson (Professor of Cities, Innovation & Society and Director of the Sustainable Consumption Institute). Following the lecture, participants are invited to a canapés and drinks reception in The Mill, AMBS.
